Description

The Sony SEL70200GM lens is designed to provide breathtaking resolution throughout its entire 70mm to 200mm zoom range, at all focusing distances. This is made possible by the use of two aspherical lens elements, including one extreme aspherical (XA) type with a 0.01-micron surface precision. These elements effectively control distance-related aberrations, ensuring outstanding resolution across the entire image area. Additionally, the lens features two spherical elements using ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass and Super ED glass, which significantly reduce chromatic aberration for sharp reproduction without color bleeding. An ED aspherical element is also utilized to suppress both chromatic and spherical aberrations commonly found in telephoto lenses.

Not only is the SEL70200GM lens capable of producing stunning images, it also offers excellent close-up performance with a minimum focus distance of 0.4 meters (1.32ft) at 70mm and 0.82 meters (2.69ft) at 200mm. The maximum magnification of 0.3x and deep bokeh at F2.8 add to its expressive close-up capabilities. The lens also boasts a newly developed 11-blade aperture unit, producing natural-looking circular bokeh, and features Nano AR Coating II for maximum clarity and reduced flare and ghosting. With optional high-performance teleconverters, the lens can extend its focal length up to 400mm (600mm on an APS-C body) while maintaining G Master quality. Designed for refined movie imagery, the SEL70200GM also offers fast and precise autofocus, versatile manual movie control, and a lightweight design for superior handling.
